- You are upgrading from a pod machine or a basic bean-to-cup.
- You are buying from a retailer with an easy return route.
Quick take
The De'Longhi Rivelia is an automatic espresso machine bought for speed: good coffee in a two-minute morning window, cappuccinos made fast, and cortados one owner ranks with the best local café. Owners coming from pod machines and a cheaper bean-to-cup are the happiest. The catch is reliability in the first months, with several units reported screeching, throwing false errors, stopping mid-drink or refusing to switch on, and taste for straight espresso is the other open question.
Bean-to-cup super-automatic with swappable bean hoppers and a touchscreen for one-touch drinks.
Practical pick with a category-specific lean
Owners praise fast, convenient milk drinks, from two-minute morning cappuccinos to cortados and iced coffees.
Faults in the first weeks or months lead the complaints, followed by owners unhappy with espresso or latte taste. • Total evidence snippets: 19 • Updated Oct 12, 2026

The praise comes from owners who moved up from pods or a simpler machine and value speed.
I was hospitalized over the weekend, usually without access to fluids after midnight until 3PM. My doctor suggested the cause of my headaches was caffeine withdrawal. I upgraded from a Nespresso to the Delonghi Rivelia and I love it! I also bought the LatteCrema add on so I can make my own ice coffees and it's soooooo good.
[r/superautomatic] Just switched from Nespresso Vertuo to DeLonghi Rivelia this week. Very very happy with it. My main priority was good coffee in the 2 minute window of opportunity I have in the morning and it more than delivers on that.

Sorry you’ve had problems with the machine and customer service. I would also be frustrated. I have made hundreds of coffees with my rivelia with nary a problem. Do you know where your machine was manufactured?
I have a Rivelia and I am short - 5 ft 1. I have no problem seeing the screen with the machine up on the kitchen counter and I love it. Definitively not junk..
[r/superautomatic] Rivelia on sale right now plus an additional 10% off if you sign up for their email list (you can unsubscribe after) I love mine. Make 6 coffees a day, mostly cortados, flat whites, and lattes. Only drank French press before getting my Rivelia. Out of 6 highly rated coffee shops I went to recently in Kalispell MT, only 1 made a cortado as good as the Rivel

Main difference (and the reason I went with the Rivelia over the Magnifica) are the swappable bean hoppers. Really convenient if you want to drink regular coffee in the morning but also decaf in the evening. … we also bought a third hopper which I use for my extremely dark roasted beans.
For what it’s worth I bought a Rivelia a few weeks ago and love it so far. The milk frother is great and it makes my cappuccino super fast. Prior to this I had a Spinn which became a huge headache so that’s why I switched.
Most critical reports are faults on machines weeks or months old; two are about taste.
Ich habe seit einigen Wochen die Delonghi Rivelia und wird durchwegs zufrieden! … Laut Anleitung kann man den my-Schalter deaktivieren. Das funktioniert bei mir aber nicht! Der Schalter reagiert nicht!
Back again I'm back again complaining about my espresso shots on my De'Longhi Rivelia and still hate the way my lattes taste. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I got new beans and have bean adapt on yet my latte tastes like shit. I bought a 1000$ + machine and still go to the coffee shop. I bought beans from my local coffee shop hoping change of beans can solve the problem but of course NOPE. Yall are going to ask me if it tastes bitter sour or burnt and I have no idea. Maybe bitter? I follow the instructions
It has less than 300 coffees on it, it's less than a year old … I still haven't been able to get it to stop leaking water into the coffee grounds container.
Delonghi Rivelia - Does not turn on I'm going through a really rough time with my Delonghi Rivelia super-automatic espresso machine. It has less than 300 coffees on it, it's less than a year old, and today it just stopped working out of nowhere. For some reason, it won't turn on using the power button. The strange part is that when I plug it into the outlet, it does make a sound, and the screen does light up, but nothing happens after that. This machine has been a headache, because on top of this new problem, I
[r/superautomatic] A problem with Delonghi Rivelia We just bought it a few days ago In the middle of the process of making the drink for example of flat white, the machine stops, saying it needs to cool down! Sometimes it's making the flat white without milk and sometimes it's making it Cortado!!!! Delonghi Rivelia Delonghi Rivelia
Buyer beware: Delonghi Rivelia Hi- Just a bit of a warning for anyone considering buying a delonghi machine. We bought a rivelia about a month ago and have been plagued by an error with the dripping tray. As you can see in the video attached, even when the tray has been emptied and cleaned still get an error message saying it needs to be emptied. What’s most disappointing is not so much the obvious sensor fault, but the piss poor customer service we’ve experienced. Even though we registered the machine with Delo
Delonghi rivelia sour espresso after having watched many youtube vids Hi everyone, We've had a Delonghi Rivelia for 2 weeks now and have been loving the ease of it and the cappuccinos have been good. I've watched multiple youtube instruction videos and read on this sub about dialing in. My main question: is it possible to get something closer to an espresso out of this machine or will it always be more like a black coffee, like some say? (Which is perfectly fine, but then I'll stop trying to get closer.) Sadly
Rivelia - screeching sound and coffee not as good Got Rivelia about 6 weeks ago and it had been pretty great; we mostly only use it on the week-ends. About a week ago, it started making a screechy sound when starting up/shutting down, and brewing coffee. Took out the infuser, soaked and rinsed it and replaced it. We could still see silicone grease on some parts and the movement appeared to be smooth and unhindered. Also cleaned the grounds we could see inside before replacing. It seemed to help but then the same s

Quick answers to the main review, complaints, buyer-fit, and comparison questions shoppers ask before choosing De'Longhi Rivelia.
For the owners here, yes. A Nespresso Vertuo switcher is very happy after a week, with good coffee in the two-minute window they have each morning, and another Nespresso upgrader loves it, especially with the LatteCrema add-on for iced coffees.
One household that moved from a Philips 3200 now drinks more coffee because the Rivelia makes it so easy: two cortados by 11 a.m., where they never bothered with a second cup before. It is a single comparison.
It depends on what you drink. An owner who bought it on sale makes six milk drinks a day and rates the cortados with the best local café, while another who paid over $1,000 still dislikes their lattes and keeps going to the coffee shop. Speed and milk drinks are where the value shows.
Do not expect café espresso. An owner two weeks in, who likes the cappuccinos, gets sour shots despite following dial-in videos and is asking whether it can produce anything closer to espresso than black coffee. No answer is reported.
The swappable bean hoppers were the deciding difference for one buyer: regular coffee in the morning, decaf in the evening, and a third hopper bought for very dark beans.
