Best For
- You want one machine that grinds, brews and froths, and you brew medium roasts rather than very light ones.
- You are happy to weigh shots and adjust when output drifts.
- You are buying with an easy return or warranty route.
Quick take
The Breville Barista Touch puts the grinder and an automatic milk frother inside the espresso machine, and when it is dialled in it can pull shots its owners rate highly. The built-in grinder is the catch. It draws the largest share of the complaints here: output that drifts at a fixed setting, new noises after a change of beans, and a gear failure after very light roasts. It suits a buyer who wants one machine on the counter more than one who plans to chase light-roast espresso.
Espresso machine with a built-in conical burr grinder, touchscreen controls and automatic milk texturing.

The positive reports are about the cup: once dialled in, the Touch can make shots its owners rate highly.
The built-in grinder draws the most complaints, and the other faults are varied enough that repair risk belongs in the buying decision. • Total evidence snippets: 13 • Updated Oct 12, 2026

There are fewer positive reports than critical ones, and both describe personal taste rather than measured results.
Wow… the variables are near endless. I have a Breville Touch and after 6 months no specialty coffee shop comes close to what I produce… If everything you state above is flawless it’s not easy to help you. Can you make a Vid of your entire bean to cup process?
I'm looking to completely overhaul my home espresso setup after using a Breville Barista Touch for the past 6 years. It has served me well
Most critical reports concern the built-in grinder. The rest are individual faults with different causes, plus a frothing complaint and a beginner who returned the machine.

My Barista Touch grinder recently gave up after running some very light-roasted beans through it. Unfortunately, it looks like the grinder gears were damaged.
I would go with a separate grinder. It makes an incredible difference. I have the touch. Don’t do that. The sensor to the milk is know to break and is either expensive or a hack to fix. Go with a bambino and a separate grinder
Weird noise coming from built in espresso machine grinder [Breville Touch Espresso] This is a new Breville Touch, I've only had it for about 3 or 4 weeks. I was making coffee last night (i know i shouldn't be having coffee late at night but alas) … i have the settings to grind size 9 because the 11 felt too coarse. I did recently change the coffee beans to a new coffee that i haven't tried before. Can someone tell me what the best thing to do or what's causing this sound? I didn't listen back then (ended up buying the Barista Touch) and while I like what I have, I don't love it and honestly it's easier having them separate.

Steaming with Barista Touch Hi! I was gifted a Barista Touch a couple of months ago. I've been pulling great shots and I love the machine. However, I'm utterly unimpressed with the automatic milk frother. So much so that I'm finding myself using my Nespresso frother. Is there a trick? I love a good, thick milk foam and it just isn't happening with the Breville. I'm using fresh milk with a splash of creamer. I'd love to hear any tips or suggestions! I originally owned a Breville Barista Touch and kept getting many inconsistent and lackluster shots (especially with light roasts). That machine and its ho-hum grinder is what started the espresso rabbit hole.
Breville Touch problem: spraying water and steam Alrighty, so I've tried everything I've come across online. I have descaled the machine 5 times today (I routinely descale it every month so it shouldn't be too bad especially since we use already filtered water. I tried pulling the power cord out for 30-seconds while the machine was on, factory resetting the machine, new filters, no filters, pre-soaking the filters as instructed , and plenty of yelling at the thing (it didn't listen to me). Kitchen aid automatic or breville express impress? [budget $500-$2000] I had the breville barista touch espresso and maybe it was because I was in my first trimester of pregnancy but I hated it and could not figure it out so we returned it. HELP! My machine is a **Breville Barista Touch**. It wasn't having any problems, but I switched the beans from Ugandan to a light-roast Ethiopian coffee. Since then, it's been making loud noises and crackling/clicking sounds. Even when I set the grinder to the coarsest setting, it still makes the same noise. Is the problem with the beans themselves or with the machine? Does it need servicing, or can fix it on my own? Breville Barista Touch Breville Barista Touch

Products frequently compared alongside Breville Barista Touch:
Breville's other built-in-grinder machine; owners report years of use and similar grinder limits
Breville's more automated all-in-one; its own owner reports also centre on grinder drift
Quick answers to the main review, complaints, buyer-fit, and comparison questions shoppers ask before choosing Breville Barista Touch.
The reports point both ways. One Touch has served its owner well for six years and is being replaced as part of a wider upgrade, not because of a reported fault, while another failed after two years in a family of five. With a grinder gear failure and other individual faults also reported, plan for the possibility of a repair rather than counting on either outcome.
It can take real effort. A first-time owner could not figure it out and returned it, though they note they were in their first trimester at the time, and a new owner on their second bag of the same beans still could not get repeatable shots. Its automation does not remove the need to weigh shots and adjust the grind.
If you are undecided, the owners who would choose differently lean toward separates. An owner who bought the Touch against earlier advice likes it but does not love it and finds a separate machine and grinder easier, and another owner tells shoppers not to buy it but to pair a Breville Bambino with a separate grinder. Buy the Touch if having everything in one machine is the point.
Not in the detailed case here. An owner who descales monthly with filtered water descaled five times in one day, cut the power, factory-reset the machine and tried new, absent and pre-soaked filters, and it still sprayed water and steam. The post ends without a diagnosis, so treat it as a likely service job rather than a descaling problem.
