Best For
- Counter space is your main constraint.
- You want Original Line pods, including third-party ones.
- You make one or two drinks at a time.
Quick take
The Nespresso Essenza Mini is a very small Original Line pod coffee machine, and the early owner signals are good: it takes up so little space that one owner uses it more than their larger Vertuo Plus, and the durability reports so far are encouraging. The catch is the size itself: a small water tank and a used-pod bin that needs emptying every few drinks.
Compact Nespresso capsule machine for Original-line pods.
Practical pick with a category-specific lean
Very small on the counter, and still going strong for the owners who report on durability.
The water tank and used-pod bin are small and fill quickly, and one owner found the machine flimsy and lost the occasional pod. • Total evidence snippets: 6 • Updated Oct 12, 2026

The positive reports are about how little space it takes and how well it is holding up.
[r/nespresso] I love my Essenza Mini. It’s so small and relatively quiet. My only gripe is its small water tank and waste bin, but at least I’m being forced to clean it regularly and always put in fresh water. I think at around 4-5 pods it’ll no longer dispense a used pod. I think they’re all identical when it comes to brewing since they all utilize a 19-bar pressure ex
I will recommend you get an OL machine, for these main reasons: -Cheaper pods that make excellent coffee, pressure-based brewing (instead of centrifugal like in the VL machines) and general availability of equally excellent third party pods. -OL machines are generally super reliable and sturdy. I've had an Essenza mini for ages and the thing is a tank. On the other hand, there are some Vertuo models that seem more prone to malfunctioning than it'd be desirable (Vertuo Next being a notorious one).
I use the original line Nespresso. I got a the Nespresso Essenza Mini + Aeroccino kit from Costco a year ago and it's still going strong. The kit comes with $40 credit toward Nespresso pods too which is great. I love using the Chiaro or Scurro pods. I only like the Maple Pecan of the flavored ones. I also really like the Peet's Richezza pods if you wanna try off-brand ones. I usually I pull a lungo shot then top up with steamed milk + one pump of my syrup of choice. I might pull 2 shots if I want stronger coffee
Get something from the original line. I have an essenza mini and it takes up so little space. I actually use it more than my vertuo plus, which I also absolutely love and adore.
Two critical reports, one owner each: the flip side of its size, and a flimsy feel with the odd wasted pod.
recently tried the Nespresso Essenza Mini. I honestly loved the coffee, especially coming from instant coffee, but the machine felt flimsy and occasionally wasted pods by puncturing them without brewing anything.

Quick answers to the main review, complaints, buyer-fit, and comparison questions shoppers ask before choosing Nespresso Essenza Mini.
Original Line pods. One owner likes Nespresso's own Chiaro and Scuro, and Peet's Richezza as an off-brand option; another recommends the Original Line for cheaper pods, pressure-based brewing and widely available third-party pods.
Yes, with a separate frother. One owner bought it in a Costco kit with an Aeroccino and usually pulls a lungo, tops it up with steamed milk and a pump of syrup, and pulls two shots when they want it stronger.
It is relatively quiet, according to an owner who otherwise praises how small it is.
One commenter steering a buyer toward the Original Line cites cheaper pods, pressure-based rather than centrifugal brewing, plentiful third-party pods, and Original Line machines they consider very reliable, while saying some Vertuo models, the Vertuo Next in particular, seem more prone to faults. That is one person's advice, not a measured comparison.
