Best For
- You want hands-off brewing that approximates a pour-over.
- You accept a brewer that relies on firmware and an app.
- You want ratio and steep time set precisely rather than by feel.
Quick take
The Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker is a batch drip coffee maker that automates what a pour-over asks you to do by hand. The cup draws praise in most reports here, especially for smaller brews, though a couple find it flat or a step down from hand-brewed V60. The problems sit elsewhere: units that broke within months or soon after warranty, a connected side that drops Wi-Fi or stalls on firmware, and in two cases coffee that turned bitter weeks to months in.
A precision batch brewer whose peristaltic pump and servo valve let brew ratio and steep time be set exactly.
Practical pick with a category-specific lean
The coffee draws praise in most reports here, especially for single-serve and smaller batches, and scheduling suits busy mornings.
Hardware failures and connected-side trouble lead the complaints, followed by bitter or flat cups for a few owners and short pours. • Total evidence snippets: 28 • Updated Oct 12, 2026

The positive reports concern the cup; one of them comes from the owner who is otherwise finished with their Aiden.
New Aiden Day Have been debating Aiden vs Moccamaster KBT for a while. Recent sale and desire to upgrade sooner rather than later pushed me to Aiden. Don't love all the plastic and the overall feel of it, but like the look of it more than I expected. Initial setup had a few connection hiccups as others have said. Love all the customization options with brew profiles and being able to program and save them on the machine. Looking forward to more experimentation and comparison of output with my usual Switch recipe
I’ve been just the opposite. Just got mine last week. Had pretty good cups before the Aiden, but been able to dial in better cups on every coffee I had open. Cup one out of it was great. Used one bag of an “ok” coffee to dial it in, kind of learn just how much the profiles really change, and once I had amazing cups with it, it’s been a dream. Today opened one of my favorites from the freezer and had two amazing cups. Best cups of the year. Sorry I waited so long to get the Aiden.
I've had the Fellow Aiden, and it was pretty solid
Oh my word! Just did a single in my Aiden! Best 5 coffees I have ever had. If you can find this get your hands on it Aiden Aiden
The Aiden worked great because I could grind the coffee before I went to sleep, set a timer so it was read for when I wake up and make a quick cup on demand.
Thoughts on Fellow Aiden as a New Father As a longtime Hario Switch user, I appreciated being able to tweak my recipes and try and get the best out of my coffee. I'm not the greatest at pourover but I like my results. But since the birth of my son a couple weeks ago, I bit the bullet and got the Aiden and its been such a game changer. Not only does it reduce the time needed from me to get some coffee, but its also extracting better than I was on the switch (skill issue, I know lol), so its a
[r/lemmy:coffee@lemmy.world] fellow is high quality stuff that's also well-designed. it's not cheap though. the aiden is like a next-level drip brewer: it's got a peristaltic pump instead of a bubble pump so you can specify ratios to the milliliter, it's got a servo controlling the drip valve so you can program steep time to the second, it's got graphing capabilities to show temperatur
I have an Aiden at home and do handground, Hario pourover at the cottage. I can’t wait to get an Aiden for the cottage. It’s much easier, more consistent and makes better coffee. All of the above is reference to 500 ml or less “single serve” production.
I have one. Similar life reqs. I love it. Also, I agree with the other comment: get a decent grinder to really notice a huge difference. Invest in better beans for sure. I make crap coffee in my aiden time to time. It tastes like it compared to my regular purchases. I think it makes excellent coffee. It excels at smaller brews (\~800ml and less, 300-700 for best cups but They are all great).
Different connectivity failures rather than one repeated fault, two tied to named firmware versions; the taste failures are two separate owners.
Shower cap disintegrated Had the Aiden coffee maker for 10 months now. No issues until this morning, when raising the lid, noticed plastic pieces falling. Centre piece of shower head broken up. Not sure how this happened but mustve been tiny cracks spreading over time. Pretty disappointed with the quality at the msrp. Ofcourse, cant order the part. Reached out to Fellow under warranty but silly that replacement part isnt available for direct ordering Aiden coffee maker Aiden coffee maker
Don't love all the plastic and the overall feel of it … Initial setup had a few connection hiccups as others have said.
Been using my Aiden since the beginning, nearly 2 years now for me, and without any connectivity issues. Today, my internet went down, and for some reason, the Aiden went down with it. … This time I got it to brew a 3-cupper, but right near the end of the brew it went nuts, blowing out steam like crazy, in a way I've never seen before.
The Aiden has a minor flaw when brewing batch. The carafe creates a striated result. Give the pot a little stir before pouring the first cup.
Another Bad Aiden Experience and PSA Like other posts, I moved from my prior coffee maker to an Aiden with the hope that I could get as close to an automated pour over experience as I can. It started fine, flavors weren't exact but I tinkered enough with the app to dial in good flavor. A few months in, the connectivity issues began along with numerous resets and connecting, disconnecting, and reapplying the online connection. About 6-8 months in all coffee started to have this weird bitter and somewhat burned tast
Since June I've been using the Aiden with an Ofe Gen 2 and can't shake flat, lifeless cups, and not a single cup has come close to what I'd call quality pour over
Whenever I use the schedule option, it doesn't work, although it states that the machine is online. … Despite the high temp settings coffee is not that hot.
I've had the Fellow Aiden, and it was pretty solid, but it recently broke and out of warranty.
Fellow Aiden Issues (Firmware 1.5.16): Wi-Fi disconnects Ever since updating my Aiden to 1.5.16, the Wi-Fi constantly drops, which was never a problem for me before. On top of that, the carafe detection seems way too strict lately. I prefer brewing directly into my own coffee server, so not being able to easily swap out the stock carafe is a huge pain. Ideally, I'd love a feature that lets us save custom pour-over recipes with specific pour times and volumes. But honestly, seeing the ongoing Wi-Fi struggl
Aiden stuck on firmware 1.1.7 for almost a month. Anyone else? I bought a Fellow Aiden for the office almost a month ago, and I still can't use its app features. It's been online since day one and shows up in the Fellow app, but it's stuck on firmware 1.1.7 and hasn't received the update. I moved my Hikaru V60 home after four happy years at the office and replaced it with the Aiden. I still highly recommend the Hikaru, especially for saving recipes for different beans through its app. Fellow support takes three
Fellow Aiden Add Water Issue Hi Guys, my Aiden has been working like a charm for almost 2 years now but unfortunately this week it started stopping my brews with a "Please add water" error. So far it has happened 2-3 times and just pressing continue seems to work fine. Can I do anything to resolve the error? or at least make sure it doesn't devolves Aiden Aiden
Normally I hand grind and do a V60. … Is the coffee a step down in quality from what you are used to? Yes.
I have the Aiden, it’s broken so my times, been returned, it’s put up now. Good coffee but not worth the hassles.
I think I'm done with my Aiden (and possibly Fellow) Long post ahead…but this has been a long month of back and forth with Fellow support. I don't want this to be a Fellow-bashing post. When my Aiden works well, it makes excellent coffee. But I'm on my third Aiden, and after weeks of troubleshooting, I'm reaching my limit. This Aiden used to make great coffee. Then several weeks ago, almost everything started tasting muted, bitter, burned, or even ashtray-like. It also started disconnecting
[r/FellowProducts] Fellow Aiden after 6 months: plastic cracking; pieces corroding Is this a one-off or are others experiencing? I have been happy with the coffee but for what I spent, seems like it should be more durable. plastic cracking pieces corroding Is this a one-off or are others experiencing durability issues with the coffee machine after 6 months?
Fellow Aiden output is 15% off. Got the Aiden last week. I'm sort of happy with it, but with several annoyances, the chief one being the big gap between the water output I select and what actually ends up in the pot. **I know that some water loss is normal from absorption,** **but I'm getting 14-16% less than what I select**. For example, I tried to brew a 500ml pot so that I could have 3 small 150ml cups. Instead, I ended up with 420ml in the pot. I open the top after brewing to see where the water went, and I'
my fellow Aiden coffee maker just broke after 8 months of use, and customer service has basically told me I am shit out of luck to get it replaced. (I bought it through a reseller
If this is a new Aiden straight out of the box, it's probably on an old firmware 1.1.7 This does have some problems making that first connection. Took me a few hours of messing before it just magically worked.
When I try to connect to my wifi (that I know for a fact is running at 2.4ghz) it just says "incorrect password" so the only way I am able to connect to the brewer is with a mobile hotspot. … it only shows the Gear Settings along with "Firmware update required"

Not exactly, for one new owner: they measure 14-16% less water in the pot than they select, more than the absorption they expected. Large batches can also come out layered in the carafe, so give the pot a stir before pouring the first cup.
One owner went through a month of back and forth with Fellow support and is on a third unit, which itself developed the bitter-taste problem; they are reaching their limit. An office buyer was still without a firmware update after nearly a month. Neither describes the final outcome.
You work through brew profiles, which a new owner found change the cup a lot once learned, and another new owner loves being able to program them and save them on the machine. One owner still wishes for saved custom pour-over recipes with specific pour times and volumes, and another misses how a Hikaru V60's app saved recipes for different beans.
It depends on the brew size and who is pouring. An owner of both finds the Aiden easier and better for single-serve brews up to 500 ml, and a former Hario Switch user found it extracted more successfully than he could by hand; a V60 hand-brewer, though, calls the Aiden's coffee a step down. The clear difference is automation: the Aiden brews for you, a V60 does not.
A commenter describes a peristaltic pump in place of a bubble pump, letting brew ratio be set to the millilitre, and a servo-controlled drip valve so steep time can be programmed to the second. That is a description of the design rather than an owner reporting what it produced in the cup.
